UK's FTSE 100 rises supported by mining stocks

Updated:

The UK’s blue-chip FTSE 100 index posted gains during Friday’s trading, outperforming most European markets. The rise was driven by a surge in major mining company shares amid climbing gold and silver prices, even as markets faced pressure from rising bond yields and crude oil prices.

According to British financial reports, the benchmark index rose by 0.22%, while the mid-cap FTSE 250 also registered modest gains.

Across other European markets, Germany’s DAX and France’s CAC 40 each edged up by around 0.1%, whereas the pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 lacked clear direction, heading toward its second consecutive weekly decline.
