Jordan Inflation Reaches 2.2% in First Eight Months

Jordan’s inflation rate reached 2.20% during the first eight months of 2026, compared with the same period in 2025, according to the monthly Consumer Price Index report issued by the Department of Statistics.

The report showed that inflation stood at 2.66% in August 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, while prices fell by 0.25% from July 2026, indicating easing price pressures during the month.

Regarding the contribution of goods and services to inflation during the first eight months of 2026, rents accounted for around 0.71 percentage points, followed by transportation at approximately 0.60 percentage points, oils and fats at around 0.26 percentage points, and tobacco and cigarettes at approximately 0.17 percentage points.

The annual inflation rate recorded in August was mainly driven by several goods and services, led by transportation, which contributed around 1.12 percentage points, followed by rents at 0.76 percentage points and oils and fats at approximately 0.29 percentage points.

Meanwhile, declines in the prices of several items helped curb inflation in August. Fruits and nuts reduced the inflation rate by around 0.17 percentage points, followed by vegetables and dried and canned legumes at approximately 0.14 percentage points, and dairy products and eggs at around 0.04 percentage points.
