Applied Science University Honors Accomplished Alumni

Updated:

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Applied Science Private University honored a group of distinguished alumni who have continued to represent the university through their achievements in leading professional and academic positions.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Chairwoman Hajjah Umm Haitham and under the patronage of Dr. Haitham Abdullah Abu Khdeir, Vice Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees. The event was attended by the Vice Chairman and members of the Board of Directors.

More than 50 university graduates, accompanied by their families and members of the university’s academic and administrative leadership, attended the ceremony. The event highlighted a clear message: the university’s relationship with its graduates does not end at graduation, but marks the beginning of a new phase of communication, pride and recognition of their achievements.

The ceremony highlighted one of the most important outcomes of the university experience: graduates who take what they have learned into the field, transforming knowledge into impact and their academic journeys into professional and community contributions.

In his remarks, Dr. Haitham Abdullah Abu Khdeir said honoring alumni was also a celebration of the university’s journey in educating and preparing its students. He noted that investment in education should not be measured solely by what students receive in classrooms and laboratories, but also by the impact that education has on their character, careers and roles in professional life.

Abu Khdeir said the university views its students as both a trust and a responsibility, stressing that its mission extends beyond providing academic knowledge to building individuals, strengthening values and preparing students to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in ways that benefit themselves and their communities.

He said the achievements of Applied Science University graduates in their various fields represent a direct extension of the university’s mission. A graduate’s success, he added, is not merely a personal achievement, but also becomes part of the image the university brings to society and the labor market.

The legacy of the late Haj Abdullah Abu Khdeir was also reflected in Dr. Haitham’s remarks, particularly his vision of education as a mission that goes beyond professional training to focus on building people and shaping the future.

Abu Khdeir recalled aspects of this vision, explaining that attention to academic excellence and educational outcomes had been a key part of Haj Abdullah Abu Khdeir’s approach, based on the belief that the true value of education emerges when students can transform what they have learned into knowledge, skills and meaningful contributions to their workplaces and communities.

The ceremony was not intended to be a one-off event on the university’s calendar. Abu Khdeir announced that honoring distinguished alumni would become a regular initiative held every semester, with a new group of graduates recognized for their achievements and contributions in their respective fields.

The event concluded with the honoring of the distinguished graduates. The ceremony celebrated not simply what they achieved during their university years, but what they went on to accomplish afterward, reaffirming that the value of a university experience is measured not only by what happens during the years of study, but also by what remains with graduates as they begin writing their professional and personal chapters in the wider world.
