The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Abdul-Halim Khreizat, confirmed that Jordanian agricultural exports continued to achieve remarkable growth during the first half of 2026. This reflects the quality of Jordanian agricultural products and their ability to compete in regional and international markets, while underscoring the success of government efforts aimed at supporting the agricultural sector and boosting its exports.
Khreizat explained that total agricultural exports rose to 281,000 tons during the first half of 2026, compared to 245,000 tons for the same period in 2025, achieving an increase of 14%.
He added that vegetable exports recorded a growth of 13.1%, rising from 174,000 tons to 197,000 tons, while fruit exports rose by 18% to reach 83,000 tons compared to 71,000 tons during the same period last year.
He pointed out that the livestock sector also achieved positive indicators; hatching egg exports rose from 29.9 million eggs to 77 million eggs, marking a growth rate of 159%. Table egg exports also increased from 78 million eggs to 134 million eggs, a growth rate of 71%, while sheep exports reached 163,000 heads.
Khreizat emphasized that these positive results came within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision and its executive program. They are the fruit of joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture, the private sector, and farmers to develop the agricultural production system, improve product quality, and align them with the requirements of foreign markets, alongside continuous work to open new markets and maintain traditional markets for Jordanian exports.
He added that the agricultural sector continues to solidify its role in supporting the national economy, improving the trade balance, and creating job opportunities. He stressed that the ministry remains committed to implementing its programs aimed at increasing production, raising the value-added of agricultural products, and enhancing their competitiveness in global markets.
Khreizat concluded by stressing that the ministry is moving forward with supporting the export expansion of Jordanian agricultural products to contribute to achieving sustainable agricultural development, raising farmers’ income, and strengthening national food security. He noted that the growth indicators recorded this year reflect the advanced position that Jordanian agricultural products have come to occupy in foreign markets.
