Jordan Strengthens Confidence and Opens Horizons for GAIF 35 Insurance Conference

Updated:

Jordan is preparing to host the 35th General Conference of the General Arab Insurance Union (GAIF 35), under royal patronage, during the period from October 4-7 at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Centre in the Dead Sea, with the participation of approximately 1,900 people from 48 countries, with registration continuing and expected to exceed 2,000 participants.

This conference carries significance that transcends the professional aspect, as the wide international attendance reflects the level of confidence in Jordan’s standing, stability, and capacity to host major economic events, at a time when the region faces geopolitical challenges that affect trade, investment movements, and supply chains.

The holding of the conference represents an opportunity to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a center for regional and international dialogue and cooperation, and to open new communication channels between leaders of the insurance and reinsurance industry and financial and economic institutions. It also provides a platform for introducing Jordan’s investment environment, national competencies, and available opportunities in the financial sector and related services.

The importance of the conference is highlighted for the insurance sector in light of the accelerating transformations the world is witnessing, where geopolitical, economic, and climate risks, as well as cybersecurity, have become factors affecting business continuity and investment costs. Insurance is no longer merely a means to compensate for losses; it has become a strategic tool for protecting assets and investments and supporting economic stability.

These developments also require insurance and reinsurance companies to develop risk management tools, improve their technical and financial capabilities, and expand the range of insurance products. Digitalization and artificial intelligence open new fields for risk assessment, fraud prevention, improving services, and accelerating claims settlement, while necessitating the enhancement of governance and data protection.

Economically, the conference represents an opportunity to revitalize conference and business tourism, and support the hotels, transportation, hospitality, and services sectors, as well as expanding opportunities for cooperation and investment. However, real gains should not be limited to spending related to the conference period alone; they should extend to partnerships, agreements, and new projects that benefit the Kingdom and the insurance sector.

Herein lies the importance of follow-up after the conference concludes, converting international meetings into sustainable economic relationships and implementable business investments and opportunities. Hosting major events grants Jordan an important platform, but maximizing its returns requires institutional effort and coordination between government agencies and the private sector.

GAIF 35 is not merely a gathering of insurance leaders, but an opportunity to strengthen Jordan’s economic presence, consolidate confidence in its institutions, and expand its network of regional and international relations, in a way that supports the Kingdom’s standing and opens new horizons for the insurance sector and the economy.
