Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan met with Canadian Minister of State for International Development Randeep Sarai during his visit to the Kingdom to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand future economic and development cooperation.
The talks focused on areas of cooperation aligned with the priorities and programs of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision.
Toukan expressed Jordan’s appreciation for Canada’s continued support over recent years, which has included education, healthcare, women’s empowerment programs, energy-efficiency projects, as well as support for refugees and host communities.
The meeting also addressed Canada’s upcoming development assistance program for Jordan, which will focus primarily on education, entrepreneurship, and projects aimed at enhancing women’s economic participation.
For his part, Sarai reaffirmed the strength of the partnership between Jordan and Canada, noting that his visit aims to assess the impact of development programs and projects implemented with Canadian support and further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in education, women’s economic empowerment, and humanitarian assistance.
Canada has provided Jordan with JOD 23.81 million in funding aimed at creating economic opportunities for women and youth, while supporting refugees and host communities.
Sarai told Al Mamlaka that Jordan has made significant efforts to support refugees and provide them with assistance, including helping create conditions that enable them to eventually return to their home countries.
