Abu Ali: National Invoicing System Serves the Economy and Is Not Limited to Tax Purposes

Updated:

Hussam Abu Ali, Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department, stated that the National Electronic Invoicing System represents an integrated national framework whose objectives extend beyond tax purposes to encompass economic, administrative, and organizational goals that serve various components of the national economy, economic sectors, institutions, and companies.

Abu Ali explained that implementing the National Electronic Invoicing System marks a qualitative leap in organizing commercial transactions in the Kingdom by covering all types of goods and services. It provides a unified electronic platform that contributes to organizing and documenting commercial, service, and financial transactions accurately and reliably.

He noted that the National Electronic Invoicing System aims to ensure the validity and accuracy of issued invoices and provide a reliable electronic reference for transactions with financial impact. This serves various entities, institutions, and sectors whose operations require submitting invoices as proof of purchase, sale, or service provision, thereby completing the associated financial and administrative procedures.

Abu Ali stressed that the system’s importance is not limited to serving the tax administration; it extends to benefit the management of institutions, companies, and the economic sectors themselves. It provides electronic proof for transactions, enhances the accuracy of financial data, and reduces errors and discrepancies in invoices and transactions, thereby increasing procedural efficiency and boosting the reliability of commercial operations.

He pointed out that implementing the National Electronic Invoicing System comes within the framework of digital transformation and economic regulation. It contributes to enhancing transparency and clarity in commercial and service dealings, facilitating review and auditing processes, and protecting the rights of all transaction parties—whether seller, service provider, buyer, or service recipient.

Abu Ali added that a unified national invoicing system provides an electronic database for economic transactions, helps organize economic activity more efficiently, and enhances the ability of various entities to rely on trusted data and invoices when conducting their financial and administrative procedures.

He mentioned that the Income and Sales Tax Department has been keen to facilitate interaction with the National Electronic Invoicing System by listing compliant entities on its website. This allows users to review relevant data and verify registered parties within the system, enhancing transparency, clarity, and streamlining procedures related to commercial and service transactions.

Abu Ali reaffirmed that the National Electronic Invoicing System is a national asset serving the Jordanian economy across its various sectors and institutions. It contributes to developing the business environment, promoting digital transformation, and regulating financial and commercial operations to achieve greater efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in economic transactions.
