Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 December 2025: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has announced the organisation of a session titled ‘The State of the Novel in the Arab World’, as part of the Library Talks initiative, which aims to strengthen engagement between creators and the public, highlight their achievements, and support their contributions to the local cultural landscape. This aligns with the Authority’s efforts to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent.

The panel discussion, scheduled to take place at Al Safa Art & Design Library on 18 December, will host writer Ali Abu al-Reesh, Dr. Mohsen Alramli, and author Nadia Al Najjar, who will explore the current state and evolution of the Arabic novel, along with the key challenges it faces. Moderated by writer Mariam Hammoud, the session will deliberate on the prospects and future of Arabic literary narrative, shedding light on the most prominent contemporary literary trends and creative experiences, and the role of the novel in shaping cultural and societal awareness.

The Library Talks initiative, part of the Schools of Life project, will also host a workshop titled ‘Narrative Techniques in Novel Writing’, delivered by Dr. Mohsen Alramli from 19 to 21 December. The workshop aims to enhance participants’ writing and storytelling skills, offering them the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of novel writing, character development, narrative techniques, and plot construction. Participants will also train on post-writing processes and approaches to balancing reality and imagination, enhancing their ability to produce distinguished novels that blend concept, creativity, and style.
