Amman Chamber of Commerce: School Supplies Prices Stable with Abundant Market Supply

Updated:

School supplies are available in large quantities in the local market at stable prices, according to As’ad Al-Qawasmi, a board member of the Amman Chamber of Commerce.

Al-Qawasmi stated that sector traders have supplied locally produced school uniforms for all educational stages—both for public and private schools—while maintaining the same price levels as previous years, despite increases in operational costs and freight rates.

He noted that public school uniform prices range between 5 and 6 JOD for female primary school students, and between 7 and 9 JOD for middle and high school students. For male students, primary school uniforms range between 6 and 8 JOD, while middle and high school uniforms range between 9 and 10 JOD, depending on quality and tailoring. As for private school uniforms, prices vary from one school to another.

Al-Qawasmi estimated the value of the Kingdom’s imports of back-to-school goods—including clothing, fabrics, and footwear—at over 25 million JOD, confirming their abundant availability in the local market for all grade levels.

Regarding school bags, he pointed out that prices vary based on quality and grade level, ranging between 4 and 10 JOD, excluding international brand names.

Teaching staff will begin the 2026–2027 academic year on Sunday, August 16, while student attendance in schools will commence on Sunday, August 23, in accordance with the pre-announced official academic calendar.
