The Applied Science Private University has added another accomplishment to its record, with student Rahaf Al-Muhtaseb winning first place in the Arab Youth Media Award – Ibda’a, in the journalism reports category.
Al-Muhtaseb, a student in the Digital Media Department at the university’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, won the award under the supervision of Dr. Saddam Al-Mashaqbeh and Dr. Ahmad Areikat.
The award was presented to Al-Muhtaseb during the opening ceremony of the Arab Media Summit, organised by the Dubai Press Club, with the participation of universities and media institutions from across the Arab world. The event was attended by prominent journalists, media figures and leading organisations in the Arab media sector.
The awards ceremony was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where winners of the Arab Youth Media Award – Ibda’a were honoured.
Al-Muhtaseb’s winning project, titled “Digital Child Labor: Behind Digital Fame, a Childhood Managed Rather Than Lived,” examines the negative impact of digital child labor on social media platforms as a contemporary form of child labor in the digital age.
The report presents an in-depth journalistic treatment with a strong human dimension, supported by data and modern digital media tools.
The achievement adds to a growing record of success for Applied Science Private University students across various fields of competition, highlighting the university’s focus on translating academic knowledge into tangible achievements at the local, Arab and international levels.
