European Stocks Rise With Modest Gains

European stock indexes closed higher on Friday, posting modest gains as French shares recovered from the sell-off seen in the previous session, while investors assessed comments on inflation by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at the Jackson Hole symposium.

The Stoxx Europe 600 rose 0.5% to 655.04 points, recording a modest weekly gain after declining for two consecutive weeks, according to CNBC.

France’s CAC 40 gained around 1% to close at 8,404.18 points, while the UK’s FTSE 100 rose 0.29% to 10,824.26 points.

Germany’s DAX advanced 0.82% to 26,583.35 points.

The CAC 40 led gains among European markets, rising about 1% after falling to a one-month low during the previous session.

All Stoxx 600 sector indexes closed higher, while the energy sector, the weakest-performing sector of the week, gained 0.6%.
