The selling price of 21-karat gold, the most sought-after grade among consumers in Jordan’s local market, rose by 40 fils per gram on Wednesday compared with Tuesday’s price, reaching JD93.8 for sale at jewelry stores and JD89.8 for purchase.
The price of 21-karat gold stood at JD93.4 per gram for selling and JD89.4 for buying on Tuesday, according to the General Syndicate of Owners of Trade and Jewelry Shops.
The selling price of 24-karat gold also increased on Wednesday to JD107.9 per gram, compared with JD107.4 on Tuesday, marking a rise of 50 fils.
Meanwhile, the selling price of 18-karat gold rose to JD83.3 per gram on Wednesday, up from JD83 on Tuesday, an increase of 30 fils.
Globally, gold prices declined on Wednesday after reaching their highest level in more than three months in the previous session, as investors awaited a key US inflation report to assess the outlook for interest rates.
By 4:10 a.m. GMT, spot gold had fallen 0.3% to $4,642.74 per ounce. Prices had climbed on Tuesday to their highest level since mid-May, following sharp gains last week after the US Treasury Department announced a bond buyback program.
US gold futures, however, rose 0.1% to $4,700.70 per ounce.
