The Faculty of Dentistry at Applied Science Private University (ASU) held its annual Dentistry Oath Ceremony for third-year students, marking their transition into the clinical phase of their education and the beginning of hands-on training in the university’s teaching clinics.
The event represents a key academic milestone as students move from acquiring foundational scientific knowledge to clinical practice the cornerstone of developing competent dental professionals.
The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. Samia Jarrah, President of the University; Professor Dr. Yazan Hassona, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; faculty members; and the students’ families, in an atmosphere that reflected the university’s pride in its students and the significance of this pivotal stage in their academic journey.
Professor Dr. Samia Jarrah emphasized that the Faculty of Dentistry is one of the university’s flagship academic projects, noting that its curriculum has been designed according to the highest international standards to prepare dentists equipped with scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and the ability to compete in local, regional, and international job markets.
She added that the university adopts a modern educational philosophy centered on innovation and practical learning through an integrated system that includes state-of-the-art laboratories and teaching clinics.
She also highlighted the university’s strategic partnership with Ibn Al-Haytham Hospital, which provides students with clinical training in a specialized medical teaching environment, enhancing their professional readiness from the early stages of their studies.
Dr. Jarrah further noted that the university’s Clinical Anatomy Center is among the leading training facilities in the region, offering students advanced opportunities to practice surgical procedures using real human cadavers.
This hands-on experience significantly enhances their clinical skills and practical competence in line with international best practices.
For his part, Professor Dr. Yazan Hassona said the oath ceremony marks a true turning point in the students’ academic journey, as they transition from pre-clinical education to direct patient care under the supervision of distinguished faculty members and specialist dentists in a learning environment that closely mirrors real-world professional practice.
He explained that the faculty embraces the concept of comprehensive dentistry, which aims to prepare dentists capable of treating patients holistically while considering medical, human, and social aspects when developing treatment plans. This approach reflects the values and ethics of the profession while keeping pace with the latest global trends in dental education.
Dr. Hassona added that the faculty continues to enhance its academic programs by integrating the latest digital dentistry technologies into the curriculum. The college also offers advanced infrastructure that includes more than 150 fully equipped teaching clinics fitted with the latest dental technologies, enabling students to gain the clinical experience and practical skills needed to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the healthcare sector.
