Preliminary shipping data showed that 39 bulk commodity vessels transited the Bab al-Mandab Strait yesterday, Tuesday, marking the highest figure since July 19, while five vessels crossed on Wednesday, with a small number transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
Two of the five vessels that exited the Bab al-Mandab Strait today were carrying crude oil: the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) Sofia and the medium-sized tanker Ocean Laureate.
According to ship-tracking data from Kpler, 39 vessels transited the strait yesterday, with 20 entering and 17 exiting. Among the departing vessels were three tankers carrying crude oil.
Among the vessels entering the strait were two tankers carrying petrochemical products.
Some ships may still be navigating with their transponders turned off.
Kpler data also showed that only eight cargo vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, Tuesday—with five entering and three exiting—while only one vessel has crossed so far today, Wednesday.
