Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Design and Artificial Intelligence (BScDAI) to prepare graduates for careers at the intersection of design, AI, and emerging digital technologies. The innovative, interdisciplinary program will equip students with the knowledge and skills to address complex design challenges across a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Developed to respond to the increasing demand for professionals who can combine creativity with intelligent technologies, the program blends studio-based learning with courses in design, computing, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. Students will gain a solid foundation in disciplines including visualisation, interaction design, human-computer interaction, programming, computational methods, and AI-enabled design processes, empowering them to develop innovative solutions across spatial, product, and service design.
As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries worldwide, the BScDAI program aims to support the region’s burgeoning design sector by building capacity in creative thinking embedded in computational intelligence. A key feature of the program is its emphasis on human-centred and data-informed design. Students will learn to apply advanced AI techniques, computational tools, and algorithmic thinking to support design decision-making while considering the ethical, social, cultural, and environmental implications of emerging technologies.
Experiential learning forms a strong component of the BScDAI to help strengthen students’ technical capability while fostering collaboration, leadership, and communication skills. Through design studios, internships and collaborative industry projects, students will engage with real-world challenges and develop solutions that combine creativity with intelligent technologies. The curriculum also integrates sustainability, entrepreneurship, research, and community engagement to encourage responsible innovation and prepare graduates to contribute meaningfully to society.

Graduates of the BScDAI program will learn to develop intelligent products, responsive environments, interactive experiences, digital services, and future-ready design solutions that adapt to evolving user needs. The degree will provide them a foundation in human-computer interaction, ethical AI, computational design, and digital innovation, preparing them for careers at the intersection of design and technology. The program is now open for applications for entry in Fall 2026.
